Flown over 2 times, got lucky on the 3rd time. Streamer would likely have helped these fortunate ones.

These guys swam for safety and fortunately made it (even though they too were "flown over")!

Good article about USCG Search techniques relative to the NFL players that were lost at sea off Tampa. Note that the lone survivor talked about being "flown-over" repeatedly until they finally spotted him (in a more detailed account of the incident).

Hundreds of fisherman/woman lost at sea in the latest typhoon. Tragic. It is interesting to postulate how many people in the last few years were "flown over" and could have benefited from a See Rescue Streamer or other passive signaling devices, especially in developing countries?

Here is one of the great volunteer organizations that perform search and rescue as a non-profit! Like many of the military/government personnel, they wish that most hikers would be better equipped - including signaling technology like the See Rescue Streamer

Classic case of people needing a See Rescue Streamer!:
"Once we knew people were actually looking, we felt better, but it was a
little discouraging to have them fly over your head and not see you..."

Here is what happens when your batteries die (and you rely too much on new school electronics). At least he had an old-school whistle with him that likely saved his life!

5 people in a week lost at sea in Ireland showing the dangers of even near shore operations and cold water. According to the US Coast Guard, over 90% of the people lost at sea occur within 2 miles of the shore (not way offshore like you might think).

Lost British hiker in Spain. Note how most searches are called off at darkness and resume at first light. With lighted See Rescue Streamer, searches can continue 24/7. In fact, the retired US Air Force Lt. Col. performing the test flights of SDIRS (lighted streamer for fighter jets) remarked that he would never fly again without (lighted) SDIRS streamers and said tell the search parties to wait for nighttime to start looking for me (as SDIRS was spotted from 6 miles away at 3,000 feet altitude using standard Night Vision Goggles; NVG's)!

Lost hiker incident in Colorado. (See Rescue Streamer is designed so
that the words "why did they fly right over me?" are never uttered again
by people lost at sea or on land!)

Yet another example of needing to be SEEN to be RESCUED: "they kept passing us...they didn't see us". (A See Rescue Streamer could have been useful in this case by making
the boaters more visible (by 50X to 180X) on a passive and continuous
basis! Small pocket-size streamers can be carried on your person to
provide a better chance of having it if an unexpected incident occurs.)
